Tasmania Skilled Migration: 2023-24 state nomination opens

Tasmania has announced changes to its 2023-24 migration program to attract skilled migrants. Here are the details on pathways and eligibility.

Tasmanian skilled employment pathway

For skilled migrants employed in their skills assessment area.

General requirements for both options:

  • Currently live in Tasmania with the intention to continue living there
  • Employed in a skilled role within the same ANZSCO 4 digit group as your skills assessment
  • Genuine, ongoing need for your position within the business (including a minimum 12-month contract with at least three months remaining at the time you apply for nomination)
  • Subject to employment conditions, occupational caveats and priority attributes for selection.

Tasmanian skilled graduate pathway

For Tasmanian graduates who completed at least 2 years full-time study.

Minimum requirements:

  • Completed a course of study from a CRICOS registered education provider in Tasmania
  • Lived in Tasmania for at least 2 years during your studies
  • Course must be AQF 5 Diploma or higher, or at least Certificate III related to ANZSCO Major Group 3 or Group 4 occupation and be listed on CRICOS with a duration of at least 92 weeks
  • Current residence in Tasmania and intend to continue living there
  • PhD students are eligible after 2 years of living and studying in Tasmania
  • Subject to Priority attributes for selection.

Tasmanian established resident pathway

For skilled migrants employed and living in Tasmania for at least 3 years.

Minimum requirements:

  • Live in Tasmania for 3 years with limited time spent in other Australian states
  • Currently employed in a relevant role or operate a business with sufficient earnings
  • Subject to Priority attributes for selection.

Overseas applicant (health sector job offer) pathway

For health professionals outside Australia with a job offer in Tasmania.

Minimum requirements:

  • Health or Allied Health skills assessment for a relevant ANZSCO on the selected occupation list
  • Formal job offer in Tasmania related to your nominated occupation received from a well-established employer
  • Not lived in another Australian state within the last 12 months
  • Wages and employment conditions not less than Australian citizen or PR, and salary must be at least equivalent to the local market salary rate
  • Genuine and ongoing need for your position within the business
  • Subject to priority attributes for selection.
